Free World Cup Fan Zones Across All Five NYC Boroughs: The Complete Guide

Where to watch, what to expect, and how to get in — without spending a dime on a match ticket. Every borough has a fan zone. All are free.

📅 Updated April 27, 2026 🏟 5 Fan Zones 🎟 Free Admission

New York City is going all in. On April 27, 2026, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul announced that every borough will host an official FIFA World Cup fan zone this summer — free of charge. The decision reverses a plan put in place by the previous administration that would have required paid admission, putting New York in stark contrast with host cities like Los Angeles and Toronto, which are charging fans for comparable events.

Backed by $20 million in state funding, the five events span 39 days of programming, with live match screenings, cultural activations, local food vendors, and interactive experiences running from June 11 through the World Cup Final on July 19. For international visitors who can't secure or afford MetLife Stadium tickets — or who simply want to experience the tournament the way locals do — these fan zones are the answer.

"When I think back on my first World Cup, some of my most meaningful memories weren't in the stadium — they were in the fan zones, surrounded by thousands of people brought together by a pure love of the game. That's what we're building here: a World Cup that belongs to New Yorkers."

— Mayor Zohran Mamdani

🎟 How to Get Tickets

Admission to all five fan zones is free, but tickets are required. They are only available online through the NY/NJ World Cup Host Committee at nynjfwc26.com. You cannot purchase tickets at the door. Book early — high-profile match days will sell out.

These are official events operated by the NY/NJ 2026 World Cup Host Committee in partnership with the city and state. Note that the FIFA Fan Festival at Liberty State Park in Jersey City was cancelled in February 2026. International visitors planning to base themselves in Manhattan or Brooklyn will find the citywide fan zones more accessible and more integrated into the neighborhoods they'll already be exploring.

Queens — Group Stage Headquarters

📍 USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows–Corona Park 📅 June 11–27, 2026 👥 Up to 10,000 attendees

The Queens fan zone is the first to open and the one that will carry the highest energy of the group stage. Set inside the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center — the same complex that hosts the U.S. Open every September — it occupies a familiar sporting landmark in a borough that is home to one of the most diverse soccer fan communities anywhere on earth.

Flushing Meadows–Corona Park is already a gathering point for communities from Latin America, South Asia, and East Asia who call Queens home. During the group stage, when national loyalties run highest, the crowds here will feel closer to a true international tournament atmosphere than almost anywhere outside the stadium itself.

Getting there: The USTA complex is a short walk from the Mets–Willets Point station, served by the 7 train from Midtown Manhattan (approximately 30 minutes from Times Square). Also accessible via the Long Island Rail Road at Mets–Willets Point station.

Brooklyn — The Long Game

📍 Emily Roebling Plaza, Brooklyn Bridge Park 📅 June 13 – July 19, 2026 👥 Capacity to be confirmed

Brooklyn Bridge Park's Emily Roebling Plaza is the most dramatic setting of any fan zone in the city. Positioned directly beneath the Brooklyn Bridge with sweeping views of Lower Manhattan across the East River, it doubles as one of the greatest natural backdrops in New York.

Brooklyn's fan zone is also the longest-running — it opens on June 13 and runs all the way through the Final on July 19, giving it a 37-day window that no other borough can match. For fans spending most of the tournament in Brooklyn, this is the natural home base for watching matches, whether it's an early group stage game or the semifinal in week five.

One planning note: the Brooklyn fan zone overlaps with the Fourth of July holiday period and New York's 250th Anniversary celebrations. The area around Brooklyn Bridge Park will be especially busy in late June and early July — book accommodation and make plans for that window well in advance.

Getting there: Take the A/C to High Street–Brooklyn Bridge or the 2/3 to Clark Street. Also accessible via the NYC Ferry's East River route.

The Bronx — Matchday Events

📍 Bronx Terminal Market, 610 Exterior Street 📅 June 13–14, 2026 👥 5,000–10,000 attendees

The Bronx fan zone runs on a concentrated schedule — two days in mid-June coinciding with the opening weekend of the group stage. The Bronx Terminal Market, a large retail and entertainment complex near Yankee Stadium, provides the infrastructure for a substantial crowd. The location carries significance: the Bronx has one of the most passionate soccer fan communities in the city, with deep roots in Latin American, West African, and Caribbean football culture.

The two-day format means this event will be high-energy and purposefully programmed around specific marquee matches. If you are spending time in the Bronx or staying in the Upper Manhattan–Bronx corridor, June 13 and 14 are days to mark on the calendar.

Getting there: The Bronx Terminal Market is accessible via the 4 train to 161st Street–Yankee Stadium and the B/D to 161st Street. Also reachable from Harlem via the 2/5. Travel time from Midtown is approximately 20–25 minutes by subway.

Staten Island — Weekend Watch Parties

📍 Staten Island University Hospital Community Park, 75 Richmond Terrace 📅 June 29 – July 2, 2026 👥 5,000–10,000 attendees

Staten Island University Hospital Community Park — a baseball stadium that received a new LED scoreboard as part of the World Cup preparations, jointly funded by the city's Economic Development Corporation and the Host Committee — will host the borough's fan zone over a four-day window at the end of June and start of July. This timing places it in the second round of the knockout stage, when individual matches carry maximum significance.

Getting there: Take the Staten Island Ferry from Whitehall Street in Lower Manhattan — free to ride — then connect via the Staten Island Railway or local bus to the park. The ferry terminal is a short walk from Bowling Green (4/5 train) and South Ferry (1 train). Allow 45–60 minutes from Midtown for the total journey.

Manhattan — Finals Week at Rockefeller Center

📍 Rockefeller Center, Midtown Manhattan 📅 July 6–19, 2026 👥 Open-access public plaza

The Manhattan fan zone comes online for the knockout rounds and builds to a crescendo through the semifinal and final stages. Rockefeller Center is a public plaza at the heart of Midtown — access will be more fluid than at the ticketed borough sites. The Telemundo Fan Village partnership reflects the city's commitment to serving Spanish-speaking fans, who will make up a significant portion of the international audience.

July 6 through 19 covers the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and the Final. For fans who are in New York specifically to witness the later stages, this is the official city-center gathering point.

Getting there: Take the B/D/F/M to 47–50th Street–Rockefeller Center, or the 1/2/3 to 50th Street.

How to Plan Your Fan Zone Experience

The fan zone schedule maps almost perfectly onto the tournament's structure. If you are arriving for the group stage (June 13–27), Queens and Brooklyn are the primary draws. If you are in the city for the knockout rounds in early July, the Staten Island and Brooklyn sites cover the round of 16 and quarterfinal windows. For the final week — semifinal through the championship on July 19 — Rockefeller Center in Manhattan is the city's official gathering point.

  • Tickets are free but online-only — register at nynjfwc26.com as soon as registration opens. High-profile matches will sell out quickly.
  • Bar hours have been extended to 4 a.m. statewide during the World Cup. New York's nightlife scene will be running at full capacity throughout the tournament.
  • A new state permit system allows bars and restaurants to use adjacent outdoor space for match screenings. Expect block parties and street-side viewing events throughout the city.
  • The $98 NJ Transit round-trip fare for MetLife Stadium match days is a separate cost from fan zone access. Fan zones are entirely free; stadium travel is not.
  • The Host Committee is offering an $20 round-trip shuttle as an alternative to NJ Transit on game days — see our MetLife Stadium transport guide for the full breakdown.

📍 Liberty State Park Fan Festival — Cancelled

The FIFA Fan Festival at Liberty State Park was cancelled in February 2026. New Jersey redirected $5 million to a statewide network of distributed fan zones and community watch parties administered by the NJEDA. Specific New Jersey fan-zone locations are still being finalized. The two confirmed FIFA-branded fan festivals in the region are Fan Zone Queens at Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Telemundo Fan Village at Rockefeller Center.
