Canada 2026 World Cup Squad Guide
Canada has arrived as a genuine football nation, and the 2026 World Cup — hosted on home soil across Canada, the United States, and Mexico — is the moment the program has been building toward since their stunning return to tournament football at Qatar 2022. Jesse Marsch's squad is deeper, more experienced, and more confident than the team that went out in the group stage four years ago without a point.
All three of Canada's group stage matches are in Toronto and Vancouver, meaning the MetLife crowd won't get to see Les Rouges in person during the group stage. But NYC's large Canadian expat community will be watching closely — and loudly.

Key Players
Alphonso Davies — Captain, Left Back, Game-Changer
The Bayern Munich left back is the most recognizable Canadian footballer in history and the player opponents build their defensive game plans around nullifying. Davies' pace, creativity, and ability to arrive late in the box make him one of the most dangerous fullbacks in world football when fully fit. A hamstring injury put his availability for the opener in doubt, but Marsch has made clear the expectation is that Davies features during the group stage. When he plays, Canada are a different team.
Jonathan David — The Goals
Canada's all-time top scorer plays his club football now at Juventus after five prolific seasons at Lille in Ligue 1. David is a complete centre-forward — clinical in the box, sharp in the press, and capable of scoring goals from nothing. Without him, Canada score far fewer goals. With him, they have the firepower to beat anyone in Group B and create problems in the knockout rounds.
Stephen Eustáquio — The Engine
Porto's vice-captain is the midfielder who makes Canada function. Eustáquio covers ground, wins the ball back, and connects defence to attack with a range of passing that allows Davies and Buchanan to push forward. He is the least glamorous of Canada's key players and perhaps the most important.
Kendry Páez Watch: Not Canada — But The Same Age Group
If you want to see what 19-year-old world-class talent looks like, watch Ecuador's Kendry Páez in Group E on June 25 at MetLife. The parallel is useful: Canada's young players like Nathan Saliba and Marcelo Flores are the generation who will be Canada's backbone at the 2030 and 2034 World Cups. This tournament is the beginning of something.

Watching Canada in NYC
Canada's group games are all in Toronto and Vancouver, which means no MetLife appearances during the group stage. But NYC's Canadian expat population is substantial — the city has one of the largest communities of Canadians living abroad in the world. Sports bars in Hell's Kitchen, Midtown, and around Times Square will be packed for the June 12 opener against Bosnia. Look for any bar flying a Canadian flag or advertising World Cup coverage.
If Canada advances from the group — and Marsch's squad is capable of it — knockout matches could land at MetLife. Group B winners and runners-up feed into Round of 32 matchups that could include the New York/New Jersey venue.
