NYC Events & Entertainment During the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs from June 11 through July 19, and New York City is throwing a five-week-long party alongside it. Eight matches are scheduled at MetLife Stadium — including the Final — but the city's entertainment calendar is just as packed. Whether you're here for one match or the full tournament, here's everything happening beyond the stadium: concerts, shows, comedy, fan zones, and immersive experiences that make New York a destination in itself.

🎤 Major Concerts During the World Cup Window

Ariana Grande — The Eternal Sunshine Tour (July 12–19, Barclays Center)

This is the single biggest concert event overlapping with the World Cup in New York. Ariana Grande brings her first major tour since 2019 to Barclays Center for a five-night residency — July 12, 13, 16, 18, and 19. The July 19 date falls on the exact same day as the World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium, making that Sunday one of the most electric days in New York's recent memory. Expect powerhouse vocals, cinematic staging, and a setlist spanning "thank u, next," "7 rings," "Into You," and tracks from her latest album. This run is among the most in-demand tickets on the tour. Midweek dates (July 13 and 16) will run cheaper than the weekend shows.

Venue: Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn (B/D/N/Q/R/2/3/4/5 trains to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr)

Pro tip: If you're attending both a MetLife match and an Ariana show in the same visit, the subway from MetLife (via Penn Station to Atlantic Terminal) makes it manageable — but plan for the post-match crowd and build in extra time.

Martin Garrix — Americas Tour (June 13, Barclays Center)

Martin Garrix brings his Americas Tour to Brooklyn with Galantis, MICKI, Nova Blue, Cashen & Chuwe on June 13 — the same evening Brazil faces Morocco at MetLife Stadium at 6pm. International fans arriving early for that match will find Barclays lit up that night, creating a rare double-bill if you're into both. Festival-style EDM production, one of the biggest headliners in electronic music.

Benson Boone — Wanted Man Tour (July 10, Barclays Center)

The breakout pop-rock star behind "Beautiful Things" plays Barclays on July 10, just days before the World Cup quarterfinals and Ariana Grande's residency kicks off. A strong option for fans looking for a major arena show during the knockout round window.

Louis Tomlinson — Madison Square Garden (July 8)

Former One Direction member brings his North American tour to MSG on July 8, just ahead of the World Cup quarterfinals. Madison Square Garden remains one of the world's great concert venues — for visitors who've never attended a show there, this is an opportunity worth taking.

Phish — Madison Square Garden (July 22)

Technically three days after the Final, but if you're extending your trip, Phish's run at MSG has long been a New York summer institution. The band plays multi-night stands that attract fans from across the country.

My Chemical Romance — Citi Field (Queens)

MCR brings The Black Parade Tour to Citi Field in Queens — the 20th anniversary celebration of their iconic third album, with Franz Ferdinand as special guests. Playing Flushing puts this show deep in World Cup country (the USTA fan zone is nearby), making it an easy pairing with a match day or fan zone visit.

🌍 The Official NYC Fan Zones

New York City is hosting free official fan zones across all five boroughs, backed by $20 million in state funding. You don't need a match ticket to experience the World Cup — these fan zones broadcast every match on big screens with live programming, food vendors, and community events. Tickets are free but require advance registration at the official site.

Queens Group Stage HQ — USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (June 11–27)

The biggest fan zone setup in the city, located inside Louis Armstrong Stadium in Flushing Meadows. Daily match broadcasts in a stadium setting throughout the group stage. Queens is the most soccer-diverse borough in America — surrounding neighborhoods like Jackson Heights, Woodside, and Corona are alive with fans during every match day. This fan zone is the natural gathering point for the city's most international communities.

Rockefeller Center Fan Village — Telemundo Fan Village (July 6–19)

The famous ice rink transforms into a soccer pitch for the knockout stage and finals. The Fan Village covers the entirety of Rockefeller Center with giant screens, daily programming, and extended hours during Finals Week. This is the Midtown anchor for the tournament's final two weeks — centrally located, iconic backdrop, accessible from virtually every part of the city.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Fan Zone (June 13–July 19)

A waterfront fan zone along the East River with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop. Match viewing events run on select dates throughout the tournament. Brooklyn Bridge Park's setting is one of the most dramatic in the five boroughs — this one's worth attending for the view alone.

Bronx Fan Zone — Bronx Terminal Market (June 13–14)

A concentrated matchday event during the opening weekend of the tournament. Tournament-themed programming and fan activities for the South Bronx community.

Staten Island Fan Zone — SIUH Community Park (June 29–July 2)

A more family-oriented experience at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park, home of the FerryHawks baseball team. The park received a new LED scoreboard for the tournament — a permanent upgrade to the venue beyond the World Cup.

🌿 The Intrepid Museum — Free Match Screenings (All Tournament)

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum at Pier 86 is hosting free watch parties for more than 50 World Cup matches throughout the tournament. One of the more unique settings in the city — watching a match alongside a full-size aircraft carrier has a very New York energy to it.

🌿 The Central Park Final Watch Party — July 19

This is the headline free event of the entire tournament. On July 19, 50,000 fans will gather on Central Park's Great Lawn for the largest FIFA World Cup Final watch party in the world, presented by Global Citizen. Three massive LED screens will broadcast the Final, which kicks off at 3pm ET. Live entertainment, local food vendors, and a FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show — the first ever produced for a watch party — round out the full-day experience.

Doors open at noon on the Great Lawn. Charlamagne Tha God and Elvis Duran will emcee throughout the afternoon. Tickets are free but distributed by lottery — registration opened June 11 and closes July 16. Twenty percent of tickets are reserved for local nonprofit organizations and NYC Service volunteers. Register at the Global Citizen website. This is a once-in-a-generation event for New York City.

Note: also in Central Park from June 10 through July 18, FIFA Arena — a free temporary mini-soccer pitch operated by Street Soccer USA — is open for community tournaments, youth clinics, and open-play sessions daily. Show up and play.

🎭 Broadway During the World Cup

The World Cup window happens to overlap with one of Broadway's most celebrated summer seasons in recent memory. New openings, starry limited runs, and long-running hits are all playing throughout June and July.

Long-Running Hits (All Summer)

Hamilton remains the standard for what a Broadway show can be — if international visitors haven't seen it, this is the summer to go. Chicago never stops wowing with its jazz-age choreography and show-stopping numbers. Wicked takes on new resonance post-film, and remains a must for first-timers. The Lion King and Aladdin run six days a week and are excellent for families traveling with kids. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the full two-part experience for die-hard fans.

Summer 2026 Special Events

Cats: The Jellicle Ball — a bold reimagining of the classic musical that has critics and audiences talking. Proof — starring Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle in a limited run (closing July). Dog Day Afternoon — Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) and Jeremy Renner in a stage version of the classic film. Oh, Mary! — Cole Escola's hit comedy about Mary Todd Lincoln, following a sold-out Off-Broadway run.

Broadway matinees run midweek (Tuesday through Friday afternoons) and are ideal for World Cup visitors whose match evenings are spoken for — catch a show in the afternoon, then watch the match at a bar or fan zone at night.

😂 Comedy During the World Cup

New York's comedy scene is unmatched — world-famous clubs operate nightly, and June and July bring a wave of touring headliners. The city has pioneered stand-up comedy, and a show at one of the landmark clubs is as New York as a slice of dollar pizza.

The Comedy Cellar — Greenwich Village

The most storied comedy club in the world. Multiple shows nightly, and surprise drop-ins from major names happen regularly — especially in summer when comedians are in town for other projects. Reservations strongly recommended. The Village Vanguard (jazz) is across the street if you want to double up on legendary small venues in one night.

Gotham Comedy Club — Chelsea

One of NYC's premier mid-size comedy venues, with nightly shows and regular visits from nationally known headliners. More comfortable seating than the Cellar for groups.

Caroline's on Broadway — Midtown

The Times Square institution that has launched more careers than any club in the country. Walking distance from every Midtown hotel, making it the easiest comedy option for visitors staying near the fan zones and Broadway Theater District.

🎶 Free & Park Concerts

Central Park SummerStage — All Tournament

SummerStage at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park runs free and benefit concerts throughout the tournament window. Key dates during the World Cup: June 15 — Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital (free); June 24 — Black Country, New Road & Horsegirl (free); June 26 — Laurie Anderson (free); June 28 — Pride in Central Park with Purple Disco Machine & Kungs (benefit); July 12 — Bastille Day concert with Black M and Laurent Voulzy (free, perfectly timed for international fans); July 18 — Anjunadeep Open Air NYC (benefit); July 23 — Yeat (benefit); July 26 — Afro-Latinas concert featuring Susana Baca and Luedji Luna (free); July 29 — Julieta Venegas (free). The free shows require no tickets — show up, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy one of New York's great summer traditions.

Patti LaBelle at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! (June 26)

The legendary Patti LaBelle performs a ticketed benefit concert for BRIC's year-round programming in Prospect Park. One of the most iconic voices in American music, playing one of Brooklyn's most beautiful outdoor venues during the World Cup group stage.

Royel Otis at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! (July 18)

Australian indie darlings Royel Otis play a ticketed benefit show at Prospect Park just one day before the World Cup Final — making July 18 an extraordinary day for live music in the city (Ariana Grande is also at Barclays that evening).

🕯️ Immersive & Unique Experiences (Fever)

Beyond the concerts and matches, New York has a thriving scene of immersive experiences that make for perfect between-game activities for visitors staying in the city for multiple days.

Candlelight Concerts — Various NYC Venues

Fever's Candlelight series presents live classical music in stunning venues — churches, historic ballrooms, rooftops, and landmarks — by the glow of hundreds of candles. Performances run several nights a week throughout the summer. A remarkable contrast to the stadium energy: 90 minutes of Mozart or Debussy in a candlelit Gothic church has no equivalent. Ideal for evenings when there's no match to watch.

Candlelight at Edge NYC — Hudson Yards (July 17 onward)

The most dramatic venue in the Candlelight lineup: 90-minute open-air concerts at the Edge observation deck, 1,100 feet above Manhattan with 360-degree skyline views. Performances begin July 17, running through August. A July 17 or 18 show pairs perfectly with Final week energy in the city.

ARTE Museum NYC — Immersive Media Art

A fully immersive media art exhibition where visitors walk through large-scale projections of living paintings and digital worlds. No two visits are the same as the installations evolve. Located in NYC and walkable from major transit hubs — a good 90-minute option for a rainy afternoon or early evening before a watch party.

SUBMERGE — Immersive Underwater Experience

One of the newer immersive experiences in the city — a fully realized underwater environment unlike anything else in New York this summer. A strong option for families or visitors looking for something visually inventive between match days.

🏟️ Sports Beyond Soccer

The World Cup overlaps with the height of baseball season and the WNBA regular season, giving sports fans a nearly endless run of live events across the city.

New York Yankees — Yankee Stadium, The Bronx

The Yankees play home games throughout June and July. World Cup visitors staying multiple days can easily combine a MetLife match with a Yankee Stadium experience — the Bronx ballpark is accessible from midtown Manhattan in under 30 minutes by subway. A summer evening game at Yankee Stadium is one of New York's essential experiences. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

New York Mets — Citi Field, Queens

Citi Field is in Flushing, right next to the USTA Group Stage HQ fan zone and a short distance from the Jackson Heights/Woodside soccer bar corridor. A Mets game pairs naturally with a day in Queens during the group stage. My Chemical Romance also plays Citi Field this summer, if rock and baseball can coexist in your itinerary.

New York Liberty (WNBA) — Barclays Center

The Liberty are Brooklyn's WNBA team and play throughout July. Multiple home dates fall within the World Cup window, including matchups against the Washington Mystics. Women's professional basketball at Barclays is a strong evening option for the nights between the Ariana Grande residency.
