NYC World Cup 2026 Bucket List -- 20 Things to Do This Summer
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is in your backyard. Here are 20 things every New Yorker should experience before the Final on July 19.
1. Attend a match at MetLife Stadium
The obvious one, and it is non-negotiable. Eight World Cup matches are at MetLife, including the Final. Even a group stage match at 82,500-seat capacity is something you will describe for the rest of your life. Category 4 upper deck seats are the most affordable entry point.

2. Watch a match at the USTA fan zone in Queens
The Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing has been converted into a massive free outdoor fan zone for the tournament. Every match screens live on giant LED boards. Free admission, international crowd, great atmosphere. Take the 7 train.
3. Eat on Roosevelt Avenue during an Argentina match
Jackson Heights at 8pm on an Argentina match day is one of the great New York City experiences. Blue-and-white flags, drums, the whole avenue watching the game. Whether Argentina win or lose, Roosevelt Avenue delivers.
4. Have a beer at the Hudson Yards FIFA Fan Zone
The official FIFA Fan Zone on the West Side screens every match with food, music, and entertainment. Free to enter. The backdrop of the Hudson and the Vessel makes it one of the more visually spectacular places to watch football in the city.
5. Visit the FIFA World Cup store at Hudson Yards
The official 2026 World Cup merchandise store is at Hudson Yards. Jerseys, scarves, balls, and tournament-specific merchandise you cannot get elsewhere. Worth visiting even if you do not buy.
6. Watch a match at a Flatbush Avenue bar for Haiti
Haiti's first World Cup since 1974. The Haitian community on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn will create one of the most emotional watch party environments of any match in the city. For the opener against Scotland on June 13, Flatbush will be extraordinary.
7. Eat a World Cup meal in one of the 48 fan communities
New York has communities representing all 48 World Cup nations. Pick a team you like and find their neighborhood restaurant on match day. Ecuadorian food in Jackson Heights, Moroccan in Bay Ridge, Senegalese in Harlem, Brazilian in Astoria. This is a once-every-four-years opportunity to eat your way around the world without leaving the city.
8. Watch the Brazil vs Morocco opener at MetLife (June 13)
The first MetLife match of the tournament. Brazil, five-time champions, in New York. The atmosphere will be unlike anything MetLife has experienced for a non-Super Bowl event.
9. Take the $20 official shuttle to a match
The state-run $20 round-trip shuttle from Port Authority, Grand Central, or Columbus Circle is the best-value match day experience. Riding with thousands of international fans from 40+ countries, all heading to the same destination, is part of the World Cup experience.
10. Watch a match at Rockefeller Center
The Rockefeller Center fan village transforms the plaza into an outdoor stadium for the tournament. Free screening, midtown crowds, one of the most iconic locations in New York for a match.
11. See Messi if Argentina reach the knockout rounds at MetLife
Lionel Messi's group games are in Kansas City and Dallas. But if Argentina advance -- as expected -- their knockout path could bring them to MetLife for the Round of 16 (July 5) or Final (July 19). Much of Jackson Heights has already bought knockout round tickets on that assumption.
12. Walk the High Line during the tournament
The High Line runs through what is temporarily the most soccer-saturated neighborhood in the city, with FIFA's operations based at Hudson Yards below. The contrast of a quiet elevated park walk above a World Cup city is worth experiencing.
13. Eat an Argentine asado during the Final
Whether you are at MetLife or watching from Jackson Heights, July 19 calls for a full Argentine grill. Tira de asado, vacรญo, morcilla, provoleta, malbec. Plan it early -- every Argentine restaurant in the city will be completely booked for Final day.
14. Try Fernet con Coca
The unofficial national drink of Argentina. Fernet-Branca mixed with Coca-Cola over ice. Order it at any Argentine bar in Jackson Heights. You will either love it immediately or need a second glass.
15. Watch a match at a Bay Ridge bar for Norway (June 22)
The Norwegian community in Bay Ridge has been waiting for this World Cup for years. Erling Haaland at MetLife on June 22 against Senegal is their moment. 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge on match day will be covered in Norwegian flags.
16. Take a photo of MetLife Stadium from the American Dream pedestrian bridge
The pedestrian bridge connecting American Dream Mall to MetLife Stadium offers an unusual vantage point. On match day, with the stadium at full capacity and flags visible from every entrance, it is one of the great photo opportunities of the tournament.
17. Watch a match at a Harlem bar for Senegal
The Senegalese community on 116th Street in Harlem -- Little Senegal -- will be one of the most passionate watch party locations in the city. France vs Senegal (June 16) is the match of the group stage at MetLife and will ignite the neighborhood.
18. Attend a World Cup experience event through Fever
Throughout the tournament, NYC has World Cup-themed immersive experiences, pop-up events, and cultural programming. Fever carries the best selection -- check listings for soccer-themed events running June-July.
