England's World Cup Schedule

England vs Croatia

June 17 · AT&T Stadium, Dallas

England vs Ghana

June 23 · Gillette Stadium, Boston

Panama vs England

June 27 🏟️ MetLife Stadium, NJ

New York has one of the largest English expat communities of any city outside the UK, and the pub infrastructure built to serve that community is genuinely world-class. For a World Cup where England are genuine contenders — Bellingham, Saka, Kane, Foden, Palmer — the atmosphere in the right pub for a big match is one of the best sporting experiences the city offers. It's loud, it's tense, and when England score it's electric.

The Best English Pubs for England Matches

Nevada Smith's — 74 Third Ave, East Village

The most legendary soccer bar in New York. For England matches at major tournaments, Nevada Smith's is the place — packed, passionate, knowledgeable crowd. The space is narrow and deep with screens everywhere. Arrive 45 minutes early minimum; for knockout matches, an hour early. First come, first served — no reservations.

The Churchill — 45 W 28th St, Midtown

A proper English pub in Midtown — Union Jacks, portraits, multiple screens, good draft selection. The Churchill handles large groups well and has a kitchen serving fish and chips and other pub staples. Pre-book a table for the MetLife match day. Opens early for morning kickoffs.

Sunburnt Calf — 905 Second Ave, Midtown

Australian-run but essentially adopted by the English expat community as one of the best soccer-watching venues in Midtown. The screen setup is excellent, the energy for England matches is high, and it manages capacity well. For the Panama match at MetLife, groups staying in Midtown hotels should consider this as their pre-match gathering point before heading to Penn Station.

The Winslow — 243 E 40th St, Midtown East

Reliable Midtown English pub with multiple screens and a solid crowd for England matches. Less intense than Nevada Smith's, which makes it a good choice if you want to watch with friends who aren't die-hard fans but still want a good atmosphere.

The MetLife Match — June 27 vs Panama

England's final group match at MetLife is their best opportunity for a big win. Panama are the weakest team in Group L; England will be looking to top the group and set up a favorable knockout bracket position. The enormous English-speaking population of the NYC metro area means MetLife will feel like an England home match. Thousands will make the journey from Midtown to East Rutherford.

From any Manhattan pub: get to Penn Station by 4:30pm for a 6pm kickoff. NJ Transit to Secaucus, shuttle to MetLife. Pre-purchase your NJ Transit tickets — they sell out.

If England Go Deep

If England advance through the knockout rounds — and with this squad they should — NYC will experience something it hasn't seen in a long time: genuine belief that 60 years of hurt might finally end. The quarterfinals and semifinals take England to other US cities, but every match will be shown at full volume in every English pub in Manhattan. The Final at MetLife on July 19 with England in it would be the most extraordinary sporting atmosphere New York has hosted since... well, ever for soccer.
