NYC Neighborhood Passport: World Cup 2026 Stamp Hunt Guide โ How It Works
Published 2026-06-15 ยท WorldCup.NYC Editorial
The City of New York launched a physical passport program for the World Cup โ and it's one of the most ingenious free initiatives of the tournament. The NYC Neighborhood Passport is a booklet you pick up at any NYC public library branch, then take across the five boroughs to collect stamps at participating cultural institutions and community events. It's a scavenger hunt that turns the entire city into a World Cup experience, and it runs from June 11 through July 19.
How to Get a Passport
Walk into any New York Public Library branch (Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island), any Brooklyn Public Library branch, or any Queens Public Library branch and ask for the NYC Neighborhood Passport. It's free and available to anyone โ visitors and locals alike, no library card required.
Where to Get Stamps
Stamping locations are spread across all five boroughs at cultural institutions participating in the World Cup programming. Confirmed stamping spots include:
- American Museum of Natural History (Upper West Side) โ Global Sports Pavilion in the Futter Gallery, Floor 1. Open during regular museum hours, June 11โJuly 19.
- New York Public Library branches โ Many branches are also hosting World Cup watch parties across 46 branches during the tournament
- Additional cultural institutions, community centers, and neighborhood organizations across all five boroughs โ check nyctourism.com/worldcup26 for the full updated list
Connecting with the Welcome World Rewards Program
The Neighborhood Passport pairs naturally with the Welcome World Rewards Program โ the NYNJ Host Committee's digital check-in system where you earn points at participating small businesses. The passport covers cultural institutions and community events; the rewards program covers commercial businesses. Doing both simultaneously while exploring a neighborhood is the most efficient approach. See our complete Rewards Program guide for details.
Strategy: Making the Most of the Passport
Build your passport route around match days to combine watch parties with stamp collecting:
- Upper West Side day: AMNH stamp + AMNH watch party + Central Park walk
- Queens day: Queens Group Stage HQ at USTA (check if it stamps) + Flushing Meadows + Queens Night Market
- Brooklyn day: Brooklyn Bridge Park fan zone + DUMBO + stamp at any participating Brooklyn institution
The passport runs through July 19 โ the day of the Final โ so the entire six-week tournament is your window to complete as much of it as you want.
