Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani announced in April that every borough of New York City would host a free official fan zone for the 2026 World Cup, backed by $20 million in state funding. All five venues are now open for registration. And some match days are already selling out.

The registration system is at nynjfwc26.com. It's free. It takes two minutes. But without a registration, you cannot get in — there are no walk-up tickets at the five official borough venues.

The Five Venues and What's Still Available

Queens — USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (June 11–27)

The largest venue — Louis Armstrong Stadium holds 10,000 fans — and the one with the most matches. The entire group stage runs here, which means 16 days of programming. Early match days (June 11–13) are the most in-demand. The Brazil vs Morocco match on June 13 is the highest-profile group stage fixture and will almost certainly sell out entirely. Register now for any dates you want. Subway: 7 to Mets–Willets Point.

Brooklyn — Brooklyn Bridge Park (June 13–July 19)

The adidas Home of Soccer at Brooklyn Bridge Park runs the full tournament with daily screenings and live programming. Registration requirements vary by event — some dates are open access, others require advance sign-up. Check the site for specific match dates. The waterfront setting and live performances (PinkPantheress, Larry June confirmed) make this the most atmospheric free venue in the city.

Manhattan — Rockefeller Center Fan Village (July 6–19)

The good news: this one is open access with no registration required. The bad news: the Finals week crowds will be enormous. For the quarterfinals and beyond, arrive two or more hours early for a good viewing position. No advance booking needed — just show up.

Bronx — Bronx Terminal Market (June 13–14)

A two-day activation for the opening weekend. Register at nynjfwc26.com for the June 13 and 14 events. These will fill up — the Bronx has a massive soccer community and the opening weekend is the highest-demand period of the tournament.

Staten Island — SI University Hospital Community Park (June 29–July 2)

The Round of 32 activation. Registration opens closer to the date — check nynjfwc26.com for the specific window. Evening match viewings during knockout week.

Why You Should Register Today

The math is simple. The Queens USTA venue holds 10,000 people. New York City has 8.3 million residents, plus the millions more visiting for the tournament. The demand for free, high-quality viewing experiences is almost unlimited. The supply is not. The NYNJ Host Committee has confirmed that high-profile match days at the Queens venue are filling up. If you wait until a week before the Brazil vs Morocco match to register, you will not get in.

The registration process takes under two minutes. Create an account at nynjfwc26.com, select your dates and venue, and confirm. You'll receive a digital ticket. Bring it on your phone. That's all.

Free Options That Don't Require Registration

If you miss registration for the borough fan zones, you still have excellent free options:

  • Hudson Yards Big Screen — 30-foot outdoor screen, full tournament, walk-up, no registration. Arrive early for big matches.
  • Rockefeller Center Fan Village — July 6–19, open access, no registration.
  • Soccer bars across the city — No cover charge at most venues for group stage matches.
  • Tubi — Free streaming, no subscription, select matches live.
  • TV antenna — Fox and Telemundo over the air, completely free.
