What to Do After the World Cup Match — Post-Game NYC
You've been at MetLife for three hours. Your team won — or didn't. Either way, the night in New York is young. Here's where to go next, depending on how you're feeling.
If Your Team Won
Head to the neighborhood where your team's fans are concentrated. Jackson Heights (Queens) for South American teams — Roosevelt Avenue will be loud, flags out, car horns for blocks. Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) for Norwegian fans. Astoria for Greek and Eastern European support. Midtown's soccer bars — Nevada Smith's, Smithfield Hall, Legends — will have mixed international groups. The energy is best at the neighborhood-specific spots.
If Your Team Lost
The soccer bars are still open and still full. International fans commiserating together is its own experience. Order something, find a corner, and watch the next match that's already on. FuboTV has it at the hotel if you'd rather watch alone.
Late-Night Food
Koreatown on 32nd Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues) stays open late and feeds thousands after events. The Halal Guys carts on 53rd and 6th are a New York institution. Chinatown in Manhattan runs late. Near MetLife, the Secaucus and East Rutherford areas have limited late options — eat in the city.
Getting Home
NJ Transit runs for 60–90 minutes after the match ends. The platform at Meadowlands station will be packed immediately after the final whistle — wait 20–30 minutes at the stadium before walking to the train. See the complete NJ Transit guide for platform strategy.
