NYC Launches 100+ Free World Cup Watch Parties Across All Five Boroughs

With the tournament officially underway, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the city's five borough presidents announced more than 100 neighborhood watch parties — free, spread across all five boroughs, and running from today through the July 19 Final.

Quick Facts
Total events: 100+ watch parties across all five boroughs
Cost: Free
Organizers: NYC DOT, NYC Parks, NYCEDC, borough presidents, NYC Tourism + Conventions
Dates: June 11 – July 19, 2026
Full calendar: nyctourism.com/worldcup26

New York City is not letting a single neighborhood sit out the World Cup. On the morning of June 11 — the tournament's opening day — Mayor Mamdani stood alongside all five borough presidents to announce a new citywide network of free watch parties that transforms public spaces into match-day destinations for New Yorkers who don't have tickets to MetLife Stadium and may not have secured spots at the official borough fan zones.

The announcement builds on the $20 million in state funding that already backs the five official fan zones, and adds a new layer of hyperlocal programming funded through grants from NYC Tourism + Conventions. Taken together, the city now has one of the largest free public World Cup programming rosters of any host city in the tournament.

NYCEDC Public Markets: Every Match Day

One of the most significant pieces of the announcement: three NYC public markets will run live match screenings on every single match day throughout the tournament. No registration. Walk up and watch.

NYCEDC also announced two standalone community watch parties: the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park hosted an outdoor community watch on June 11 (today), and MADE Bush Terminal, also in Sunset Park, hosts an indoor and outdoor watch party on June 25 with music, arts and crafts, and community-based organization programming.

"By bringing matches, music, food, and cultural activations to neighborhoods across the five boroughs, we're ensuring New Yorkers and visitors alike can come together and experience the energy of the World Cup right here at home," said NYCEDC Interim President & CEO Jeanny Pak.

NYC DOT Plaza Watch Parties with Live Performances

NYC DOT is turning public plazas into watch party venues with a distinctive twist: each event includes a live cultural performance before the match kicks off, and several feature guided community bike rides led by Black Girls Do Bike from nearby parks to the venue.

NYC DOT plaza watch party schedule:

All plaza events are free and open to the public. A full list of guided bike ride events and additional plaza dates is at nyc.gov/WorldCupReady.

Borough President Events

All five borough presidents are running their own watch parties with grants from NYC Tourism + Conventions:

Five Borough Winners Special: $26 Deals at 150+ Restaurants

Alongside the watch parties, NYC Tourism + Conventions launched the Five Borough Winners Special — a citywide dining promotion where more than 150 participating restaurants and bars are offering $26 food and beverage deals plus limited-edition commemorative cups with unique designs celebrating each borough. The promotion runs throughout the tournament starting today. Browse participating venues at nyctourism.com/five-borough-winners-special.

The Full Picture: What NYC Is Offering

Between the five official borough fan zones (USTA Queens, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Bronx Terminal Market, SIUH Community Park on Staten Island, and the Rockefeller Center Fan Village in July), the 100+ neighborhood watch parties, the NYCEDC public markets running every match day, and the 50,000-person Global Citizen Finals watch party in Central Park, NYC has built arguably the most comprehensive free World Cup public viewing infrastructure of any city in the tournament.

"This summer, we're bringing the people's game directly to the people," Mayor Mamdani said in the announcement. "From public markets to beaches and parks, we're turning our city's public spaces into places where New Yorkers can get together, share a meal, see music and watch the world's game."

🆕 Five New Soccer Streets Watch Parties (Announced June 24)

Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYC DOT announced five additional "Soccer Streets" watch parties on June 24, expanding the citywide program that has already run events in Jackson Heights, Flatbush, Greenpoint, and the Bronx. These events pair live cultural performances with outdoor match screenings at plazas across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.

All five events are free and open to the public. For questions, email summerstage@cityparksfoundation.org.
