With the tournament officially underway, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the city's five borough presidents announced more than 100 neighborhood watch parties — free, spread across all five boroughs, and running from today through the July 19 Final.
Total events: 100+ watch parties across all five boroughs

New York City is not letting a single neighborhood sit out the World Cup. On the morning of June 11 — the tournament's opening day — Mayor Mamdani stood alongside all five borough presidents to announce a new citywide network of free watch parties that transforms public spaces into match-day destinations for New Yorkers who don't have tickets to MetLife Stadium and may not have secured spots at the official borough fan zones.
The announcement builds on the $20 million in state funding that already backs the five official fan zones, and adds a new layer of hyperlocal programming funded through grants from NYC Tourism + Conventions. Taken together, the city now has one of the largest free public World Cup programming rosters of any host city in the tournament.
NYCEDC Public Markets: Every Match Day
One of the most significant pieces of the announcement: three NYC public markets will run live match screenings on every single match day throughout the tournament. No registration. Walk up and watch.
- La Marqueta, E 116th Street, East Harlem — live screenings during market hours all tournament
- Essex Market, Delancey Street, Lower East Side — daily screenings with DJs and vendor programming on select match days
- Moore Street Market, Broadway, Williamsburg, Brooklyn — daily screenings with DJs and community tabling on select days
NYCEDC also announced two standalone community watch parties: the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park hosted an outdoor community watch on June 11 (today), and MADE Bush Terminal, also in Sunset Park, hosts an indoor and outdoor watch party on June 25 with music, arts and crafts, and community-based organization programming.
"By bringing matches, music, food, and cultural activations to neighborhoods across the five boroughs, we're ensuring New Yorkers and visitors alike can come together and experience the energy of the World Cup right here at home," said NYCEDC Interim President & CEO Jeanny Pak.

The Full Picture: What NYC Is Offering
Between the five official borough fan zones (USTA Queens, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Bronx Terminal Market, SIUH Community Park on Staten Island, and the Rockefeller Center Fan Village in July), the 100+ neighborhood watch parties, the NYCEDC public markets running every match day, and the 50,000-person Global Citizen Finals watch party in Central Park, NYC has built arguably the most comprehensive free World Cup public viewing infrastructure of any city in the tournament.
"This summer, we're bringing the people's game directly to the people," Mayor Mamdani said in the announcement. "From public markets to beaches and parks, we're turning our city's public spaces into places where New Yorkers can get together, share a meal, see music and watch the world's game."
