The shock of the tournament. Julio Enciso headed Paraguay in front before halftime at Gillette Stadium (att. 63,945), and although Kai Havertz equalized with a header early in the second half, Germany could not find a winner across 120 minutes — a Jonathan Tah header in extra time was ruled out by VAR. In the shootout, goalkeeper Orlando Gill was the hero, saving two spot-kicks as Paraguay held their nerve to win 4–3 and send the four-time champions home. Paraguay advance to the Round of 16 to face the winner of France vs Sweden in Philadelphia on July 5.
🇳🇱 Netherlands vs 🇲🇦 Morocco (9pm ET, Monterrey) — later tonight
Netherlands finished second in Group F behind Japan despite beating Tunisia 5-1 — their 1-5 loss to Japan in MD2 was a shocker. Morocco were clinical — 2-0 over Scotland, 1-0 Haiti, 0-0 Brazil. The winner faces Canada in Houston on July 4 in R16 #1. Result drops here after full time.
