NJ Transit — Final Day Train Schedule
NJ Transit runs enhanced Meadowlands service on Final day. Key details:
- Depart Penn Station from 11:30 AM — trains every 15–20 min on Final day. Earlier trains = shorter lines at the station.
- Transfer at Secaucus Junction to the Meadowlands Line — a separate ticket/fare. Budget 15 min for the transfer.
- Arrive MetLife approximately 45–60 min after leaving Penn Station, depending on train timing.
- Return trains run immediately post-match and continue 3+ hours after the Final ends. Last trains are typically midnight or later.
- Cost: ~$16 each way (Penn Station → Secaucus → MetLife). Buy on the NJ Transit app — paper tickets cause delays.
- Alternative: Match-day buses from Port Authority (42nd & 8th), Grand Central (42nd & Park), and Columbus Circle. ~$20 round trip. No transfer needed.
Leave your hotel by 1:00 PM for a 4:00 PM ET kickoff. Penn Station will be at full capacity from noon — take an early NJ Transit train. The World Cup Final NJ Transit service will be at maximum frequency but demand will also be at maximum. Security lines at MetLife are longer for the Final than any other match — add an extra 30 minutes to your normal stadium arrival buffer.
